Formula 1 started in 1950 at silverstone in front of the royal family. The first world championship was held linking the established grand prix racing with just six countries. Alpha Romeo dominated the season’s proceedings with the 3 ‘F’, Giuseppe Farina, Juan Manuel Fangio and Luigi Fagioli.Since, then the sport, which fans all over the world revere, has come a long way in terms of drivers safety and fierce competition.

Ferrari in the lead
Every new season the governing body FIA has been introducing new rules to offset the technical enhancements made by teams to ensure level playing field. Every year millions of dollars are spent by various teams, on research and development to develop better racing machines, in order to ensure a podium finish at maximum grand prix. Further, every year, the number of venues is increased to keep up the excitement among racing enthusiasts.

However recently, there have been instances were the sporting rules have been violated by prominent teams in order to achieve their personal goals. The incidents such as the ‘spy gate’ involving McLaren and Ferrari and Renault’s deliberate crash at last year’s Singapore grand prix are shameful and detrimental to the sport of racing. Looking forward to ethical racing in the coming years.
Expecting to watch a great race on 18 Oct at the Interlagos circuit of the Brazilian Grand Prix and hope that the sport arrives in India very soon.
